Ending production of the Mercedes SLR McLaren in 2009

Mercedes has already put the date on the tombstone of the SLR McLaren, this will go down in history of motor racing in 2009. Currently only version is in production roadster, leaving for sale last September. The number of units produced never reached the expected number at the outset of 500 units a year, lagging last year at 275.

Certainly we feel short life cycle of superdeportivo that emerged in the circuits of marriage between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren, but can be explained by the forthcoming introduction of McLaren P11, which is manufactured in the same plant that makes the SLR and the plans for production of the Mercedes SLC.

As a tribute to this great model, I leave with you one of the first images that I was lucky enough to see, disculpad quality of the photographs:

Mercedes Class A very slight Face washing

Since the summer of this year will be available a Mercedes Class A slightly different, consisting of a complete development of a foreign and a few slight changes on the outside. Mechanically not be added or deleted engines but will remain the same but with modifications that light will make them more efficient.

As in most of the changes, and as happened in the recent face washing of the Class B, the aesthetic developments appear in the front and rear bumpers, grille in the image of the past as models, fog lamps, covered with the taillights or mirrors. Clearly changes are more generous than in the interior, where there are only new materials for upholstery and aluminum inserts for dashboard instrumentation.
As commented, engines remain the same:
Gasoline
• A 150 - 1.5 to 95 HP and 140 Nm.
• A 170 - 1.7 to 116 HP and 155 Nm.
• A 200 - 2.0 to 136 HP and 185 Nm.
• A 200 TURBO - 2.0 turbo 193 and 280 HP Nm.Diésel
• A 160 CDI - 2.0 to 82 HP and 180 Nm.
• A 180 CDI - 2.0 to 109 HP and 250 Nm.
• A 200 CDI - 2.0 to 140 HP and 300 Nm.
The change is the number of manual 5 relations, which expands to 6 in the model A 180 CDI, A 200 and A 200 TURBO Commission. On average consumption is known to be reduced to 7% but is not known to official figures and it is known that the A 160 CDI will have a consumption of only 4.5 litres per 100 km.
In addition, it will include technology start-stop for versions A 150 and A 170 and a special version called A 150 BlueEfficiency, which will ensure a consulo only 5.8 l/100 km keeping of a 95 HP 150.

Wald making Mercedes C Class Version GT Sports Line

Despite the preparations that are typical of the Mercedes C Class recurrently incorporate some elements that donate the saloon quite aggressively, generally by giving not rigid one angle of the sedan model competition. As if it were the units that are determinate for the famous DTM, the Japanese imbue Wald shows this preparation as sport, which has not basically been completely unhesitating.

On an intermediate version, instead of using the C 63 AMG as we might envisage, cover with a silver gray proclaimed in the German firm a cipher of new elements close as fins and gills of the cap, bumper close to the ground or the tires Alloy five radios. The most prominent, misplaced a vacillate, scrawl and the formidable commensurate rear wing or quadruple sap outlet as a 2 and 2.

Displaying the last three images, it seems that not mechanism is resolved in the aspect of this Class C " Japanese " since it could be parallel more sports if possible. In a few months know the final version.

Mercedes Class B 2008, small adjustments

As second in the evolution of "Class" Mercedes, the Class B as a people carrier which has led style of the German mark: sober finishes, in comfort and with large engines which tend always to be more efficient. In this 2008 and after three years since the last version, receives a small cleaning skin that extends to the heart, showing a design changed, and above all engines with less consumption and more power

The most important changes to occur in visually accessories bodywork, the new front deeply stressing that integrates itself a new grille and bumper greater athleticism. It can be seen as it moves through the body for a new covered mirrors, the sides and door handles particularly in the same color as the body. In the rear, the change is less profound including a different bumper with a higher integration, which can be plastic or a chrome, and with different covers for the lights.

Mechanically, though not increasing the range of six engines available, it increases the efficiency of the same. For the entire diesel, there are two direct injection engines developing 109 HP (B180 CDI), and HP 140 (B200 CDI) with a maximum torque at 300 Nm and combined ranging between 5.2 and 5.6 l/100 km. With respect to gasoline, there are four different options with powers of 95 Cv (B150), HP 116 (B170), HP 136 (B200), and HP 193 (B120 Turbo). Consumption in this case varies between 6.6 and 8.1 l/100 km.

There will be two different versions of the thrusters gasoline. On the one hand the B150 and B170 BlueEFFICIENCY equipped with thrusters above next to Stop & Start ECO system that allows the engine shut down in situations of a prolonged stoppage and turn it on in a very small fraction of time, thereby greatly improving consumption. The other alternative is the B170 NGT, with a modified engine that can use gasoline or natural gas. Consumes 7.3 l/100 km for petrol or 4.9 kg/100 km of natural gas and allows for a comprehensive autonomy over 1,000 km.

The appearance inside amending very slightly, as novedadun adding a new upholstery and skin Arctic for seats optional.

Details of Mercedes’ super-sports car

Mercedes won’t be taking any chances in the performance stakes with its new super-sports car following the disappointing results of its SLR supercar, which rarely comes first in comparo reviews.
The new model is set to be slotted in between the SLR and SL, and could feature a 700hp version of the 6.2L AMG V8 engine according to Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport. However, we think it’d probably be closer to 600hp so as to not step on the toes of the SLR flagship. The source also reports that it might carry the name ‘SLC’ and could also feature a biturbo V8 model as well.
The SLC will share much in common with the next-generation SL Roadster, including most of the interior but will get its own carbon-fiber roof.

Mercedes-Benz will team up with its official DTM partner, HWA AG, to co-develop and build its new super-sports car as well as several other high-end performance models. The luxury brand is reportedly disappointed by the performance of its SLR McLaren when compared against its main rivals, and this is said to be a key reason why it sought a new partner to develop its latest sports car, reports Automotive News Europe.
In steps HWA. The motorsports company was formed by Hans-Werner Aufrecht in 1967, one of the founders of AMG, and is best known for its HWA Racing team, which competes in the German touring car series with the CLK-DTM.

The new model will be a race car built for the road and is likely to be powered by a higher performance version of the hand-built 6.2L V8 engine from AMG. To make it road-legal, the car will be officially sold under the Mercedes AMG label, but it will remain a genuine HWA race-developed product. Expect to see a concept version at next year’s Geneva Motor Show.
HWA will also be investing €4.5 million to expand its manufacturing facilities, which will see its current plant extend from 1,200 to 3,600 square meters. HWA spokesman Hans Jürgen Matheis revealed to The Insider that the motorsports company always had the ambition to prove to Mercedes that it could build a better road-car than McLaren, and now it finally gets its chance.
McLaren fans shouldn’t be completely disappointed. Substantial cash flows from its successful F1 team and the freeing up of resources from this latest announcement could eventually pave the way for the development of a successor to the original McLaren F1.

Mercedes developing 35MPG Bluetec diesel S-class

Mercedes-Benz is reported to be developing a new version of its S-class limo equipped with an ultra-efficient Bluetec diesel engine. With a motor displacing just 2.2L, the new diesel driven S-class should return a fuel economy rating of just 6.6L per 100km, or roughly 35mpg.
We should get our first glimpse of the new car at September’s Frankfurt Auto Show, with production scheduled to start towards the end of next year. Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport reports that Mercedes will be combining the four-cylinder oil-burner with its new mild-hybrid system to achieve the amazingly low consumption figures.
Mercedes previously showcased a Bluetec hybrid S-Class concept at the 2005 Frankfurt Auto Show, but unlike the concept car which featured a V6 powerplant, the production version will run a twin-turbo four-cylinder motor that produces 204hp.
The vehicle will be in full compliance with future Euro 6 emissions standards, which are expected to roll in by 2014, and we should see its efficient powertrain eventually offered in the E and C-class range.
